Who I Am
I’m Lisa, a primary school teacher with over 25 years of experience and a specialist tutor for students with dyslexia.
I began tutoring students with dyslexia because the need was there. So many families were desperate for help, their children being left behind, not being taught the way they needed to learn. That’s what drove me to keep digging deeper, and it opened a door I couldn’t close. Understanding how the spelling system works was transformative, for me and for my students. I needed to share it with others, so I started creating resources. What began as just a few PDF downloads has grown into something much bigger.
The deeper I’ve gone into orthography, the more I’ve discovered its power for anyone who works with learners. Once you start seeing words as morphemes, you can’t unsee it! That shift in understanding, for educators and learners alike, is exactly what these resources are designed to spark.
The Heart of It
The heart of any spelling program is the person delivering it.
English spelling isn’t random. It’s a system shaped by the interplay of three key elements: morphology, etymology and phonology. When we understand how these three work together, spelling stops feeling like guesswork and starts revealing its logic.
When we truly understand the ‘why’ behind spelling, we become better equipped to support our learners in a meaningful way. That’s why building YOUR knowledge is at the heart of everything I create, so you can teach with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
